30 April

RED, WHITE AND BLUE BARBIE.  Celebrations continue for an after wedding get-to-gether. (Meet from 6pm onward to make the best of the daylight).  Bring along whatever you want to cook on the BBQ and either a salad dish or sweet to share + whatever you want to drink. Casual dress in any of the three colours – (eg blue jeans & T shirt fine!), 

Please can you let your host know if you would like to join us by Friday 29th so that she can prepare.

Pizza Night at Red Lion at Tedburn St Mary. 

Meet at the pub at 7.30pm.  Please notify leader by Tuesday,3 May so that he can book table/s.

8 May

A 7.5 mile walk from Powerstock (West Dorset, but not as far as you think) over Eggerdon Hill Fort (great views and likely to be windy!) and back   through rolling Dorset countryside. A chance of refreshments on the way around at The Spyway Inn. Meet at Sidford central carpark at 12.30pm to sort out car-share.

11 May

Meet at 7.30pm in the car park just below the church in East Budleigh.   An easy 4/5 mile circular walk taking in the river Otter, Otterton, Bicton and back to East Budleigh finishing in the Sir Walter Raleigh Inn (optional)

Meet at 1.30 in the free car park opposite The Church House Inn  Marldon for an undulating 8.5 mile walk north along quiet country lanes and tracks and returning along the Gatcombe Brook below Berry Pomeroy Castle. Could be muddy after rain. N.B. Follow A380 towards Paignton. Go right around the roundabout to opposite side of duel carriage way to take the Marldon turn off

Bank Holiday weekend

PARTY TIME – Celebration of the installation of plastic grass in host’s vast garden (all 20 sq. ft of it).  12 noon start.  Hostess will be providing spare ribs, but please bring a salad and whatever you want to drink.  Essential to ring your host by   Thursday, 26 May if you want to go along to make sure there is enough to eat.

City Steam Jazz Band at Cadhay House, nr Ottery St Mary.  Picnic in the garden and listen to the music.  Tickets £5 for adults. (Proceeds go to charity).  Please can you let leader know if you are interested by 22nd May latest to get tickets or buy direct from Otttery Tourist Office.

Meet at 1.30pm at the car park by Bel Tor, between Poundsgate and Ponsworthy, OSGR  SX694731 for a 6 mile walk  via Corndon Down and Ponsworthy, and including parts of the Two Moors Way.

PIXIE DAY in  Ottery St Mary

Meet at 7pm in Canaan Way Car Park for a short walk in the area followed by a drink in the beer/wine tent and firework display.

Meet at 1.30pm. at Littleham Church GR 029814 (park in roads around).    Walk from Littleham along the old railway line towards Budleigh continuing via the coastal path to Exmouth and return.  Approx. 6 miles.

The Fountain Head Beer Festival, Branscombe

Meet at 12pm in Village Car Park for a short walk to the beach for a picnic.  Return to the pub to take in some music and have a pint of real ale (if you’re not driving). Daniella & Brent – playing until 3.30pm. 4pm Hobby Horse.

Meet 7.00pm outside The Kings Arms in Otterton (plenty of on-road parking). A stroll out to the cliffs, down to Ladram and back to Otterton. A chance for refreshments half way around or at the end....

Meet at 7.00 p.m outside the Tally Ho pub in School Lane, Countess Wear GR940904.  This walk takes us around the scenic Ludwell Valley with panoramic views over both Exeter and the Exe estuary towards Exmouth.  Optional refreshments at the pub afterwards.

Meet at the bridge over the river near the Golden Lion in Tipton St. John at 1.30pm for a 7 mile walk  up to Fire Beacon Plantation, White Cross, Knightstone and Ottery before returning to Tipton   along the river.

6 July

Meet at 7.00pm at Joneys Cross car-park (2/3 mile East of The Halfway Inn on the Exeter/Sidmouth Road). A 2.5 mile walk with sea-views, and taking in the hidden valley of Hawkerland. A chance for refreshments at the end

Porlock Weir and Bossington - (Map: Explorer OL 9) Meet at Porlock High Street at 12pm. Level and easy going circular walk of approximately 6 miles with one gentle hill up into   Worthy Woods. The Ship Inn pub and tea shops at Porlock Weir and tea shops in Bossington as well as pubs and cafes in Porlock.  Car share advised for this walk to the NorthDevonCoast – meet SowtonPark and Ride). Further information to be added re start times.

Meet at 11 a.m. at the car park next to SowtonPark and Ride for car share to Torcross. There is unrestricted parking for a few cars in Dockey Lane, first right immediately after Torcross Chapel. After a picnic lunch on the beach we will set off on an 8 mile walk through the villages of Stokenham and Chillington, returning along Beesands and the South West Coast Path for a well-earned ice cream at Torcross. Steep in parts and could be muddy after rain.

4 miles. A circular walk with good views.  Paths and lanes and one main ascent.

Meet at 7pm at The Lighter Inn ,Topsham , for a walk in the area followed by a drink back at the pub.

Sidmouth Folk Festival.  Dancing along the promenade and singing/dancing in most of the pubs.  Meet at the back of the Anchor around lunch time where there is folk dancing for free.

3 August

Sidmouth Folk Festival. Meet at 7.30pm outside the Bedford on Sidmouth seafront. Saunter around the town to take in the music and singing along the prom and in the pubs.

Meet at 1.30pm by church in Winsham (south-east of Chard) for a 7.2 mile. Walk via Thorncombe and skirting Forde Abbey.  Hills relatively gentle.

Meet at 1.30 p.m. at car park Grid Ref SY05675 89729 just off A3052 about 1km east of Halfway Inn for a 6.5 mile walk around Harpford Common and HawkerlandValley finishing with a cream tea. Please let us know by mid-day on Saturday 27th August if you are coming so we can book a table at Popplefords.
